What: San Diego Comic-Con 2012 Where: San Diego Convention Center When: July 12-15, 2012 Why: Cause I got a pass!!!
T-minus one month… I say this every year. I cannot believe another summer is already here which means only one thing. It’s Comic-Con time! Each year it seems it gets harder to get a pass. Congrats to you if you got one.
Stay tuned for my Comic-Con art show preview. I’m currently knee deep in paint and stress.
Congratulations to Elon Musk and his team at SpaceX for successfully launching, docking with the ISS (International Space Station) and recovering the first privately-funded rocket, the Falcon 9 with Dragon capsule. What a tremendous achievement in space exploration and engineering!
This success proves why entrepreneurs and business leaders, like Elon Musk, need less governmental regulations and the freedom to take risks with their own money, and make a profit. After all, profit is good and should not be feared.
Here’s a 60 Minutes interview (from March 18, 2012) with Elon showcasing his passion, inspiration and the risks he took to launch SpaceX and the Falcon rockets. A true example of the American dream becoming a reality!
Despite the current administration’s efforts to hinder the American space program, the launch of the first-ever, privately funded rocket to the International Space Station (ISS) was a monumental achievement. The SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket with Dragon capsule launch on May 22, 2012 from Cape Canaveral, Florida, proved why US is still the world leader in space exploration. On Friday, May 25, 2012, the Falcon 9 successfully docked with the ISS. Nice! No more piggybacking with the Russians.
Starring: Jeff Morrow, Mara Corday and Morris Ankrum Directed by: Fred F. Sears Written by: Samuel Newman, Paul Gangelin Genre(s): Sci-Fi with Monster Bird “Big as a Battleship”
In celebration of this past weekend’s big action movie release BATTLESHIP, I would like to remind you of another battleship movie called THE GIANT CLAW from 1957. Technically this movie isnt’ about a battleship, but instead THE GIANT CLAW is about a ginormous prehistoric monster bird with… you guessed it: giant claws!
Throughout the movie, this monster bird is described as “big as a battleship.” Be warned THE GIANT CLAW is an awful classic, black and white sci-fi movie, but it’s a good, campy time to watch. Don’t forget it only cost less than a price of a fine dinner to produce, while Hasbro’s BATTLESHIP production budget was over $200 million.
To be fair, I haven’t seen BATTLESHIP yet and I will probably skip it like it was a liver dinner. After being suckered into watching TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON (2011), I will stick with my gut feeling and let BATTLESHIP capsize without me.
