Words of Wisdom: THE TEN CANNOTS by William J. H. Boetcker (1873–1962)

It’s not only Halloween season, it’s also election season.  Here are some words of wisdom to consider during this historic election that will impact future American generations.

Reverend William J. H. Boetcker was a Presbyterian minister who published THE TEN CANNOTS in 1916.

Boetcker’s The Ten Cannots:

  • You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
  • You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
  • You cannot help little men by tearing down big men.
  • You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.
  • You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
  • You cannot establish sound security on borrowed money.
  • You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
  • You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than you earn.
  • You cannot build character and courage by destroying men’s initiative and independence.
  • And you cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they can and should do for themselves.

    Born of Hope Movie Poster

    Actors At Work Productions presents…

Inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s LORD OF THE RINGS (LOTR), BORN OF HOPE tells the story of Aragorn’s parents, Arathorn and Gilaren.  It’s an independent film with impressive production values.

I’m not sure how exactly I came across it, but recently I watched The HOBBIT Trailer #2, which got me looking for other LOTR movie clips.  BORN OF HOPE was a real nice surprise to watch and I admired its first class effort to further expand the LOTR mythos.

If you are a fan of LOTR, The HOBBIT or like fantasy movies with orcs and sword fighting, BORN OF HOPE can be viewed in its entirety on-line.

    Watch the feature length movie:

Think, create & dream freely and be proud of it!

Once and awhile, we Americans need a reminder not to take our God given rights for granted, including the freedom of speech.

This is a perfect time to reacquaint yourself with the Bill of Rights and the U.S. Constitution, one of the greatest living documents ever written.

iWUVu vs. iMEANu: Government Handouts and Bailouts

TODAY’S TOPIC: GOVERNMENT HANDOUTS and BAILOUTS

What do you think of the record number of people receiving government handouts and the billions of dollars spent on corporate bailouts?

    iWUVu says:

“I’d rather flip burgers and earn my keep with pride.”

    iMEANu says:

    “I’d rather flip the bird.”
